The Best Hot Chocolate Recipe for Chocolate Cocktails

ICON_CocktailsConfectionsAfter eating one of these bite-size brownies I realized I had yet to taste a chocolate cocktail that truly mirrored the taste of chocolate. Chocolate liqueur is hard to pull off without using artificial flavors and most that I've tasted haven't perfected the recipe. However, I think we've found the perfect hot chocolate mix which can be combined with your favorite spirit to create an amazing chocolate cocktail (cold ones too).

Brownie Bites

Last week we caught up with Annalisa, a private chef, who also happens to be the team mom for one of my kid's sports teams (hit the jackpot with this team mom, right?!!). I asked her why the hot chocolate she makes for all the kids after practice is so damn good and luckily for the rest of the world she shared her recipe with us. You'll see itbelow. Trust me when I say it is fantastic. You should jump over to her website too and see what else she's cookingHot Coco

We are using Annalisa's recipe as the foundation for several chocolate drinks this fall- though sometimes we change it up a little by swapping out the almond milk for other types of milk. For cold drinks we're chilling a batch in the fridge to use later. The recipe above calls for her her coco mix and spiced rum, but use any spirit you'd like.

Annalisa's Hot Coco Recipe 4 heaping tablespoon of coco mix (we used Ghiradelli's) 8 ounces almond milk 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon all spice 1/16 teaspoon ground cloves Whipped cream for garnish

Directions: Warm the milk and slowly add the coco mix and spices in. As soon as the milk starts to steam, take it off the stove. Serve immediately or allow it to cool before refrigerating.

The 2 ounces of spiced rum we added tasted amazing. Read about another possibility this Wednesday.
