Mixology 101: How to Make a Dirty Martini Cocktail + Video Link

ICON_Mixology101Those of you Dirty Martini drinkers can attest to the fact that this is a cocktail that makes your mouth water as soon as it's mentioned  (is it watering right now?). If you haven't tried one before, you're in for a treat. Yes, it's very salty but no more than a couple potato chips and waaaaaay more satisfying. Start off by filling a martini shaker with ice and adding 3 ounces of vodka and 1 ounce of olive juice. You can take the olive juice straight from the jar of olives like we do, or buy a bottle of plain olive juice (yes- there are now companies that sell bottles of olive juice without the olives). We skip vermouth for dirty martinis but you should try it both ways to see which one you prefer.

Olive Juice

Shake the ingredients hard for about 15 seconds, then strain the Dirty Martini into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with as many olives as you like.

Dirty Martini Cocktail 3 ounces vodka 1 ounce olive juice* ½ ounce dry vermouth *optional

*If it's your first time enjoying this cocktail, you may want to start with half an ounce of juice and then slowly add more until you've found the right balance. We know people who are quite happy to have more olive juice than vodka in their glass. You'll know what tastes good.
