Wine of the Week: Scratchpad Chardonnay

Our wine of the week choice was plucked from the shelf for two reasons. First, we were looking for a wine with the essence of pineapple and this is what was recommended. Second, how can anyone possibly pass up a wine bottle where you can doodle your own label? We bought a few bottles to try and a few more for hostess and birthday gifts. Here's the info on our pick: The Wine: Scratchpad The Varietal: Central Coast Chardonnay The Price: $12.99 The Hook: A charcoal pencil and a blank canvas/label The Taste: We love the crispness of this wine and strong presence of citrus and green apple, mild notes of pineapple, and a supple mouthfeel. We enjoyed a well-chilled glass with a plate of broiled salmon and will crack open another bottle tonight with fish tacos. The Grade: B+ (A+ for the design!)
